Just 4 km from Divri in Fthiotida of Lamia Municipality (about 10 km north of Lamia) in a remote area of Mount Othrys, Agios Nikolaos, an all-male monastery was built.
The Catholic monastery holds a strong architectural and religious interest and for this reason has been declared a listed monument. In this remote location, various monks who were from the village of Divris trained from time to time in the area.
In the monastery’s present form today, many of the villagers, the cultural association, who built a hostel and many church goers of Lamia, contributed greatly. Next to the monastery there is a large and imposing gorge in which there is a special pulley system which lights a lamp in Agios Nikolaos.
In the Temple there are two chapels, a vestry and a vestibule. Also of interest is the stone bell tower (work of the Romanian Monk of Mount Athos).
The monastery celebrates its name day on the 6th of December. The Abbot is Archbishop Arsenios Katerelos.
