Here is the place where Athanasios Diakos and his men fell heroically to Omer Vryoni Turkish hordes on the 22nd of April in 1822 on the bridge bearing his name. The next day Athanasios Diakos after being injured was then transferred to Lamia, where he suffered a torturous death. On the National Road there is a monument of Diakos in honour of the battle of Alaman.
